Rooted in
West Michigan.

Taking shape in the woods of West Michigan. Natural boulders and a timber entrance bring warmth and texture to a modern woodland home—pairing Scandinavian simplicity with the character of our local landscape.

02 / The Drift approach

Less fuss.
More feeling.

We’re drawn to landscapes that belong where they are. The ease of the Michigan lakeshore. The restraint of Scandinavian design. The character of materials left to be themselves.

It’s a simple idea: make your outdoors a place you actually want to be.

A lifelong eye for
the outdoors.

Hi, I’m Matt. I grew up working in my parents’ landscaping company. It taught me that the best outdoor spaces aren’t just tidy—they feel like they belong. A well-placed stone, a winding path, the right planting. Those early lessons still shape how I see the land.

West Michigan is home for my family and me. Its woods, dunes, and lakes inspire the natural stone, timber, and soft textures I’m drawn to. I want to help you bring that feeling home, whether you have a lake cottage, a wooded property, or a neighborhood backyard.

Your outdoors deserves the same care you’d expect from an interior designer. I listen to how you want to live, help you see the possibilities, and bring the materials and details together with the pride I’d give my own home. That personal connection is what makes Drift different.

Natural materials / Distinctive installations

Materials with
a sense of place.

Drift Creative brings a design-led eye to natural materials and the spaces they shape. We help select and source distinctive stone, timber, and landscape accents, then consider how each piece belongs within the larger design—from a single statement boulder to a complete natural stone landscape.

Natural stone landscapes

Fieldstone, substantial boulders, flagstone, and stepping stones chosen for their texture, proportion, and character. Paths, garden edges, and stone features that feel grounded in the land.

Thoughtful material sourcing

Help finding the right pieces for your property and budget. We look at color, scale, shape, and how materials work together, so your landscape feels cohesive from the first impression to the smallest detail.

Natural installations

Stone, timber, and planting brought together with purpose. Boulder arrangements, woodland paths, boardwalks, and layered landscape features planned around the site and how you want to use it.

Have a particular stone, unusual material, or natural feature in mind? Let’s explore what fits your space and confirm availability, installation scope, and next steps together.
